The first thing you should know is that almost all universities start new academic year at September 1st. The same is with colleges and all schools, thus, that is the day which each student associates with the beginning on new joys or tortures (it depends on personality and attitudes).

Architecturally Vytautas Magnus University doesn’t look very old. But VMU is the oldest university in Modern Lithuania (the independent Republic proclaimed in 1918 and reestablished in 1990), and the 20th anniversary we’re celebrating this April 29 and 30 is just the official beginning of a two-year-long commemoration of the remarkable events that occurred in 1989 and 1990.

VMU provides with meaningful leisure offers for all willing to get involved into cultural life of the academic community. Such events as public lectures on thought provoking topics take place in the rooms where lectures are organised, however, the university also has special spaces dedicated for the cultural life of the community.

Student's View: Summer and Lithuanian Language

Around 50 students, most of them Erasmus, came to Lithuania in the summer to learn Lithuanian language. The intensive summer course organised by Vytautas Magnus University of Kaunas took part between July 24th and August 18th.

1. After your arrival at Vytautas Magnus University get the key to your dormitory room (dormitory address: Vytauto pr. 71, Kaunas), sign the contract, register in the dormitory (for registration you’ll need: your passport or ID card and 2 photos) and pay your rent till the 5th day of each month.
